Logo SAEDIt was in the year 1987 during the superintendence of Mr. Andres Malabed Jr. when the former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Marinduque State College then (Marinduque Institute of Science and Technology) has conceived of offering masteral courses with the end view of helping people in the academe in Marinduque to pursue advance studies in the field of educational management. He then instructed Prof. Proserfina M. Mabiog, the administrative officer to work out for a feasibility study that will serve as a basis of introducing the masteral programs. The positive output of the survey energized Dr. Rosas to present it in the 7th MIST BOT Meeting and found out that it lacked qualified dean who shall devote full-time service, doctoral degree holders faculty, at least have minimum copies of professional books and 1,000 copies of cultural books and the institute have a Department of Research.

Accordingly, the problems on references and putting up a Research Department can be easily addressed; however, the main issue is on how to acquire the services of faculty with doctoral degree. With this, the Institute resulted to introduce a proposal entitled: Proposal to Open New Course Thru Consortium to PLM and was approved on August 5, 1998. likewise, the Board of Higher Education on February 22 officially approved the offering of masteral programs namely: Master of Arts in Industrial Education, Master in Educational management, Master of Arts in Teaching Communicative English and Filipino, Master of Arts in Teaching Science Education with majors in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

Thus, the program started on summer 1988 upon information of Dr. Rosas on the 10th MIST BOT Meeting held on April 18 of the same year. Initially, Dr. Nilo Rosas and the group of PLM professors like Dr. Natividad Nacienceno, Dr. Dolly Brawner, and Professor Daisy Pantino was the pioneer in the Faculty of Instruction. Their local counterparts include Prof. Respicio A Javier and Prof. Isabelo B. Jamilla from the Institute. It also interesting to note that from 1988 to 1990, the program was funded through the income of the Graduate School Program (tuition fee, miscellaneous fees and savings from Fund 101). On January 19, 1989, the Honorable executive Secretary Catalino Macaraeg approved the offering of masteral programs upon recommendation of DBM Secretary Guillermo M. Carague. The realignment of P 69, 675.00 from personnel services for payment of honorarium of the special lecturers was also approved. In this embryonic existence, Prof. Respicio A Javier has been designated as the acting Dean during the presidency of Mr. Andres G. Malabed Jr. until 1994.

The administration sent another letter request to Secretary Carague requesting provision of fund for the graduate program and to create separate function. At the same time, a letter request was sent to Congresswomen Carmencita O. Reyes asking her to assist the institution in its request for the creation of separate budget allocation for the program thru legislation. Finally, on June 27, 1990 Secretary of Budget Salvador M. Enriquez informed Pres. Andres Malabed Jr. that the MSC Graduate Program had separate budgetary function called "Advanced education Services". In FY 1992, R. A 7180 (General Appropriation Act initially appropriated P 115,000.00 for personal services and P 51, 000 for MODE.

In 1995, during the stewardships of Prof. Respicio A. Javier (1993-1994) and Prof. Atilano H. Menorca (1994-1995) and deanship of Dr. Isidro S. Sotto, the Board of Trustees Resolution No. 7, approved the offering of Master in Public Administration majors in organizational studies and local government.

Dr. Isidro S. Sotto, the former dean form 1989 to 1995 continues to propagate courses so that from his term produced nine (9) graduates in the different fields. He was followed by a very spiritual dean in the person of Dr. Loreto D. Carandang from 1996 to 2001. To her credits, the school produced fifty four (54) graduates. She served under the presidency of Dr. Rodrigo G. Monterey, Sr (1995-2001) and Dr. Isidro S. Sotto (2001-2005). The next dean is the amiable Dr. Virginia M. Sotto who administer the Graduate School from 2002 to 2005 under the presidency of her husband Dr. Isidro S. Sotto and the elected Officer-in-Charge Dr. Victor S. Vitto, Sr. (20032005). In her term, she conceived of offering a doctoral degree program in consortium at the Philippine Normal University and was approved by the Board of Trustees. She advocates the Graduate Journal. To her credit, she was able to get the highest number of graduates numbering fifty seven (57) in the different masteral programs. In the year 2005-2006, Dr. Rosalina J. Villero became the steward of the Graduate School. She was able to put a student handbook approved by the Board of Trustees. This is the bible of the School. She also introduced some reforms in the administrative and academic policies and procedures of the Graduate School. She was able to graduate five (5) masteral students. She served under the presidency of Dr. Romulo H. Malvar. Her short term was cut off with the appointment of Dr. Romulo H. Malvar to Dr. Homer L. Montejo, a fresh graduate of Doctor of Education in Educational Management. His perceived projects include the approval of the Payment Schedule for Special Tutorial Class by the BOT. he also proposed the Introduction and Amendment of Policies of the Graduate School and was proposed by the virtue of BOT Resolution No. 29, s., 2007. Lately, he was able to seek the approval of offering doctoral programs in Curriculum Development and Management, Master of Arts in Education major in Mathematics Teaching, Master of Arts in Education major in Biology Teaching and Master of Arts in Education major in Chemistry Teaching.

Part of the extension development program of the school is to offer the available programs in the Graduate School in the MSC Santa Cruz Branch of which Dr. Alicia M. Amador had labored from it. At present, it is the desire of the Graduate School to introduce different program in the nearby towns and provinces including Marinduqueños who would wish to avail the program through distant education.
